What are the specific NDT methods used for ASTM A182 materials in the aerospace industry?

In the aerospace industry, the following specific non – destructive testing (NDT) methods are commonly used for ASTM A182 materials:

  • Ultrasonic testing: It uses high – frequency sound waves to detect internal defects in materials. This method can accurately measure the depth and size of cracks, voids, and other flaws, and is suitable for detecting small – scale internal defects in ASTM A182 components.
  • Radiographic testing: It utilizes X – rays or gamma – rays to penetrate materials and form images on film or digital detectors. By analyzing the images, internal defects such as pores, inclusions, and cracks can be identified. This method is effective in detecting hidden defects in complex – shaped components.
  • Magnetic particle testing: It is applicable to ferromagnetic materials like ASTM A182 steel. The method involves applying magnetic powder to the surface of the material. When there are cracks or other defects, the magnetic lines of force will be distorted, causing the magnetic powder to accumulate at the defect location, thereby indicating the presence of defects.
  • Liquid penetrant testing: The surface of the material is coated with a liquid penetrant, which seeps into surface – breaking cracks and other defects. After removing the excess penetrant, a developer is applied. The penetrant retained in the defects is adsorbed by the developer, making the defects visible. This method is mainly used to detect surface – opening defects.

What are the materials of reducers?

The material system for reducers is identical to that for tees and elbows. Selection is mainly based on the conveyed medium (corrosiveness, temperature, pressure) and service environment (industrial/civil, buried/aboveground). Materials are primarily divided into two categories: metallic and non-metallic. The detailed classification and applicable scenarios…

What are the ratings of reducers?

The “rating” of a reducer mainly refers to its pressure rating (pressure-bearing capacity) and wall thickness rating (directly related to pressure). Two major systems are widely used globally: the metric system (PN) and the American standard system (Class / Sch). For some plastic reducers, the…

What are the dimensions of the reducer?

The dimensions of a reducer mainly include four key parameters: nominal diameter (large end / small end), length, taper angle, and wall thickness, in accordance with standards such as GB/T (Chinese) and ASME (American). Clear standard dimensions are specified for different types (concentric / eccentric)…

Classification of Reducers

Reducers can be classified according to core dimensions such as structural form, manufacturing process, connection method, material, and pressure rating. Different classifications correspond to different application scenarios and technical requirements. The systematic and clear classification system is as follows: I. Classification by Structural Form (The…
